CSA

What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture and represents a consumer-farmer relationship. CSA members subscribe before the growing season begins to a weekly box of fresh-picked veggies. Farmers enjoy a more direct relationship with their customers. Customers benefit by receiving an excellent produce value for their money and have access to super-fresh vegetables.

Where and when do I pick-up my weekly share?

The two pick-up locations are:

  • Filbert Acres Farm, 6625 Pioneer Way E, Puyallup WA 98371 (map);  Thursdays, 12-6pm
  • 717 San Juan Ave., Fircrest WA 98466 (map)(home of Mark and Stacie); Thursdays, 2:30-6pm

How can I do a half-share?

Two Options:

  • you can pick up a box containing half the amount of produce every week (Half Share box size),
  • or you may pick up a Full Share box size every other week .

What if there are vegetables I do not care for in my box?

Take advantage of our exchange bin system! At both the farm and Fircrest pick-up location, we will have an exchange bin stocked with extra produce items. If beets just don't do it for you, and the farm has extra carrots in the exchange bin that day, you can exchange the beets for carrots.  The next person may be happy to see your extra beets in there.

What if I go on vacation?

CSA members may put a hold on their box for one week during the season, and we will add on an additional box at the end of the season to make up for the missed week. Just let us know in advance that you will not be picking up your box that week.

Is your CSA program year-round?

We have an Autumn CSA session (Oct-Nov), and will add a Winter and Spring session new for 2014!  Details to follow. . .

Are you a certified organic farm?

At Filbert Acres our goal is to farm sustainably. We do not use chemical fertilizers and pesticides, limiting ourselves to OMRI (organic) certified solutions. We are not certified organic, but maybe in the future.
